The East Frankfort Youth Ministry is designed help middle school and high school students grow in a relationship with Christ. Our ministry does this by providing students with opportunities to participate in Bible study and serve on mission trips, within the praise band, and in our church’s AWANA ministry. The youth ministry also goes on a variety of outings from hiking at Red River Gorge and paint ball to Winter Jam concerts and snow tubing at Perfect North.
High School
Our high school group meets each Sunday night at 6:00pm. We often open with music and/or trivia. We then break into small groups where we value hearing each other’s thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics. Finally, we get back into our large group to for an adult-led discussion focused to challenge and encourage each student’s relationship with Christ.
On Wednesday nights, the high school youth are encouraged to serve East Frankfort’s AWANA program. During this time, students participate as leaders with the children’s ministry in a variety of ways. They serve as book time leaders, game time helpers, and assistant teachers. This experience allows the high school youth to learn to grow by serving within a church body.
Middle School
We meet every Wednesday night at 6:30. Each week we start off with a video or a game. Then we get into a lesson that helps students understand what it means to have purpose and live a life of joy with a Christ-like lifestyle. Finally, we break up into small groups of three or four students per one adult leader. This time is created for the students to review and discuss the lesson by answering questions and sharing their thoughts.
Missions
The East Frankfort youth have participated in a different mission projects ranging from mission trips to food and clothing drives. From June 12-18, 2011 the youth will be traveling to Jenkins, Kentucky to help area ministries with VBS, construction projects, and nursing homes ministry. For more information on this trip, see or email Josh.
Girls Ministry
G2 (God's Girls) is the high school girls' Bible Study group. They meet on Monday evenings from 7:30-9:00 at Josh and Emily's house to study God's word together through different Bible study books. See the monthly Youth Newsletter for the current Bible Study materials and meeting dates.
Hebs 3:13, named after the scripture passage Hebrews 3:13, is EFBC’s girls’ encouragement group. They meet on a monthly basis to work on encouraging their peers and others. Hebs 3:13 sends birthday cards, makes care packages for members of the military, checks on those who are absent from youth activities, makes packages for Happy Fun Bags, or sometimes simply enjoys the friendship of one another.
Hebrews 3:13 - But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
